Belarus seeks to set up tractor assembly facility in Vietnam

MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) - Belarus seeks to set up tractor assembly facility in Vietnam, Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov told the media, BelTA learned.

"One of the projects on the agenda is the launch of the joint tractor production in Vietnam. We suggest starting the project with a power range of 50hp. In the future, the project can potentially be expanded to embrace any models and modifications from the lineup of our tractor plant," Aleksandr Yefimov said.

The minister called cooperation with Vietnam an important element of the strategy to diversify Belarusian exports. "It is not just the supply of our finished products. The matter is about the organization of assembly plants in Vietnam. Vietnamese assembly plants are focused on exports to third countries. One of the successful projects is the production of trucks of various models. We see good prospects on this front," the head of the ministry said.

"For us, the major export item is tractors and all kinds of mounted and trailed implements. The Vietnamese delegation is set to visit Minsk Tractor Plant to see a large model range not only of tractors but also of the entire technical equipment. We are ready for deep localization. Our advantage is that we offer localization of production inside the country, training of both production and service personnel. We understand the importance of high-quality maintenance of our products, because in the future the success of further export deliveries will largely depend on it," Aleksandr Yefimov emphasized.

One of the key countries for the subsequent export of joint products is Indonesia. According to the minister, Belarus aims to tap into this capacious market, including through Vietnam.
