Belarus seeks to increase food sales to Pakistan

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) - Belarus is showing an interest in increasing the supplies of a wide range of food products to Pakistan, Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich told the media following the talks with the parliamentary delegation of Pakistan to discuss cooperation in agriculture, BelTA has learned.

“We supply to Pakistan our dairy products, including milk powder, cottage cheese, cheese and so on. We import mainly rice and citrus fruits from Pakistan for the domestic market,” the minister said. “We intend to increase mutual trade and, by the way, it has already increased this year.”

Following the talks, Anatoly Linevich noted that the Pakistani delegation showed interest in cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the agricultural sector. Pakistan seeks to increase crop yields with the help of Belarus’ best practices. “We see that we can provide assistance in this area as well,” the minister stressed.

Belarus demonstrates its intention to increase the supply of its food products to Pakistan. The agriculture and food minister added that for this purpose, domestic enterprises are seeking to obtain the Halal certificate, which will allow Belarusians to supply meat products to the Pakistani market.

“Pakistanis are also extremely interested in working with our specialists in the agro-industrial complex and adopt our experience,” Anatoly Linevich added.

The parliamentary delegation of Pakistan is currently on a visit to Belarus at the invitation of the House of Representatives.
