SMOLEVICHI DISTRICT, 3 June (BelTA) - Belarus expects to move to deeper cooperation with Kazakhstan in the agro-industrial complex, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov on 3 June, BelTA has learned.
Agriculture is one of the important areas of cooperation. “First of all, we are talking about food supplies. The export of Belarusian agricultural and food products to Kazakhstan amounted to almost a quarter of a billion US dollars in 2023. This is a significant figure. We are an important supplier of milk and meat to the market of Kazakhstan. This helps to strengthen the food security of your country. The trade network of Belarusian products has been actively developing. The number of specialized stores and sections in supermarkets is the rise. Your consumers appreciate Belarusian products. We are grateful to the government of Kazakhstan for supporting these efforts,” Roman Golovchenko said.
He expressed hope for a deeper level of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex. “We have been long working on a pilot project in Kazakhstan to develop a turnkey dairy and cattle complex using Belarusian technology, equipment and breeding animals. We have formed a comprehensive proposal. However, it has not been implemented yet. We would appreciate the opportunity to resume negotiations on this issue,” the prime minister said.
