Belarus secures $150m worth of agreements in Tashkent

TASHKENT, 9 February (BelTA) - The Belarusian delegation reached agreements worth $150 million during the visit to Tashkent, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told the media as he commented on the results of the official talks between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and his Uzbekistan’s counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev, BelTA has learned.

“If we take stock of the work our delegation has done over the past several days, we can say that we have agreed on a package of bilateral documents (45 documents), which includes interdepartmental, interregional agreements, a number of contracts, with the total value of about $150 million,” Sergei Aleinik said.

According to the minister, the results of the Belarusian delegation's work in Tashkent have become a serious contribution to the bilateral relations that have been developing for over 30 years.

“We have signed 70 documents throughout our history. Today's agreements confirm the strategic nature of relations and the focus on moving forward,” the minister said.

As BelTA reported earlier, on 7 February, Tashkent hosted the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan. On 8 February, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held official talks with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The talks resulted in the signing of a package of bilateral documents, including a roadmap for cooperation for 2024-2025. The document envisages the implementation of export and investment projects worth $1 billion.
