
VORONEZH, 11 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik and Governor of Russia’s Voronezh Oblast Alexander Gusev discussed ways to expand cooperation and plans to raise trade to $1 billion during a meeting in Voronezh on 11 July, BelTA learned.
“Once again, I would like to thank you and the government of the Republic of Belarus for such a constructive approach to our cooperation,” the governor said addressing the Belarusian ambassador. “We are cooperating in different areas now, and I think that there will be more of them. For my part, I would like to assure you that we are open to any form of interaction. You are a reliable time-tested partner for us.”
“We are yet to meet the goal of doubling our trade, and we have been working toward it,” Governor Alexander Gusev addd.
The Belarusian ambassador thanked the governor for his kind regard for Belarus. He said that in 2024, mutual trade approached $500 million, up by almost 20% over the previous year. “So we are moving towards the goal of $ 1 billion. We cooperate in all areas, including equipment supplies. Today we will have a wonderful ceremony of handing over fire trucks basedon MAZ chassis. We work very well in the construction sector.”
Belarus has already built several schools, kindergartens in Voronezh Oblast, and reconstructed the main stadium of Voronezh. Plans are in place to build several more social facilities. “It shows that our construction complex operates very well. This is not only construction, but also financial support of these projects by the Republic of Belarus. This shows that we share mutual interest in all these projects,” the ambassador said.
The bilateral working group convened for a meeting the day before. On the part of Belarus it is led by Architecture and Construction Minister Aleksandr Studnev. It discussed cooperation in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, construction, entrepreneurship, trade, tourism, science, education and culture. Deliveries of passenger transport vehicles were also on the agenda. It was noted that in Voronezh Oblast Belarusian specialists build facilities worth more than RUB11 billion. Another six major construction projects are in the pipeline.
