MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) - The Brest Oblast Union of Consumer Societies and the Union of Consumer Societies of Tatarstan, Russia signed a letter of intent to develop trade and economic cooperation and implement bilateral projects, the Belarusian National Union of Consumer Societies (Belkoopsoyuz) told BelTA.
On the first day of the visit to Belarus, the Tatarstan representatives studied the successful practices of Brest's consumer cooperation and visited a sausage production facility and retail outlets of the Ivatsevichi District consumer society. The Russian delegation also participated in negotiations at Belkoopsoyuz and visited trade, public catering and procurement facilities in Minsk.
Following the visit, the consumer societies of the two countries signed an agreement that includes mutual assistance, consultations on trade and investment matters, holding working negotiations, meetings, and consultations. The parties identified priority areas for effective and fruitful cooperation, including promoting mutual supplies of food and non-food products on a mutually beneficial basis, providing advisory and marketing assistance, implementing projects in trade and economic cooperation, and exchanging information on improving organizational management structures.
"The parties agreed that foreign trade contracts concluded on mutually beneficial terms will define delivery terms, payment conditions, pricing and other essential aspects," Belkoopsoyuz noted.
The agreement was signed for a period of three years with automatic renewal unless either party gives written notice of its intention to terminate the agreement one month prior to its expiration date.
