MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – Plans are in place to sign more than 100 contracts at the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Nizhny Novgorod, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova told ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
The 12th edition of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia will be held in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod on 26-27 June. “Belarus and Russia takes turns to host the forum every year. This year’s theme is “The Youth of Belarus and Russia – Heirs of the Great Victory and the Future of the Union State”. The focus is on what our countries will be like tomorrow,” said Natalya Kochanova. “The range of issues we consider in the forums is vast. This time, as always, we will have seven sections dedicated to industrial cooperation, agriculture and legal support. Regional policies will also be on the agenda as these are regional forums.”
According to the speaker, integration helps Belarus and Russia to go through difficult moments, including sanctions pressure. “We clearly understand how important it is to be together to set up joint ventures, to produce competitive products that we need,” the chairwoman of the Council of the Republic said. “Import substitution is a very important topic. A huge number of agreements and contracts are signed. More than 100 contracts worth over Br700 million will be signed this year. Over the 11 years of forums held in our countries, about 1,000 agreements of various kinds and contracts worth more than $8 billion have been signed. As for the documents that will determine our bilateral cooperation (various agreements, treaties), there are more than 140 such agreements. Another important factor is that we see how close contacts the regional leaders maintain. After all, at the forum we only summarize the results of the work performed throughout the year.”
“The forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia has not only become an important platform for our countries. It is also a good example for cooperation with other countries,” said Natalya Kochanova.
