Belarus, Russia explore joint projects in thermal, hydro-electric power generation

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are planning to implement new joint projects in thermal and hydro power engineering, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry of Belarus.

Opportunities for cooperation in terms of operation of hydropower and thermal generation facilities were discussed at a meeting between Director General of the national energy company GPO Belenergo Pavel Drozd and Sergey Machekhin, deputy director general for project engineering, sustainable development and international cooperation at RusHydro, one of Russia's largest power generating companies. The talks were held via video conferencing.

The parties considered promising areas of partnership, including the use of modern information systems and software systems. In particular, the Russian party presented the information and diagnostic system for monitoring the technical condition of hydraulic structures, which is successfully used at the Russian power facilities and may be of interest to Belarus. The parties also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of innovative technologies in the nuclear power industry.

RusHydro is one of Russia's largest power generating companies and the world's third largest hydroelectricity company. The company implements high-tech projects in sustainable development, renewable energy and digital transformation.
