
MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – In January-March 2025 the amount of exchange transactions between Belarusian and Russian traders totaled $232.5 million, which was 17% more year-on-year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).
Russia not only ranks first in terms of trade volumes among all countries represented on BUCE, but it is also the largest destination for exchange exports. According to BUCE, Belarusian goods deliveries to Russia increased by 41% in value terms in January-March 2025, reaching $201.4 million.
"This year, agricultural products prevail in the structure of exchange trade between Belarus and Russia, accounting for 77% of the total value. Russian companies primarily purchase meat products, powdered milk, butter, cheese, and feed additives. Belarusian participants mostly purchase grain, plant protection agents, veterinary drugs, and food raw materials. The growth rate of transaction values in this market segment reached 135% year-on-year," the press service stated.
In January-March 2025, the liquidity of metallurgical and woodworking products, construction materials, lubricants, polymers, and a wide range of industrial and consumer goods was also high in exchange trading. Notably, the export of Belarusian aerated concrete blocks to Russia increased by 26%, scrap of ferrous and non-ferrous metals by 12%, and industrial goods by 3%. Meanwhile, Russian companies expanded sales of polymers and polymer packaging by 63%, ferroalloys by 22%, and ferrous metal products by 6%.
As of 2 April 2025, BUCE accredited 4,453 Russian resident companies, including seven exchange brokers. Since the beginning of the year, 195 new companies from Russia have joined the Belarusian exchange platform.
