MOSCOW, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Aleksandr Rogozhnik and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko discussed the development of cooperation between Belarus and Russia in the nuclear field. The Belarusian diplomat talked to reporters after a ceremony to honor Sergey Kiriyenko with the Order of Honor held at the Belarusian Embassy on 9 July, BelTA learned.
“We discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. Sergey Kiriyenko highly appreciated this cooperation, the building of the Union State and the good friendly relationship between the two heads of state that practically lay the foundation of these relations,” Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik said.
“We reviewed the status of the projects that Rosatom is implementing jointly with our country. Relevant agreements were signed with Rosatom Corporation. They are about projects to create a center for additive technologies, the use of nuclear technologies in medicine, joint battery production and use. Today Rosatom is building two plants. These are many, many projects that we are discussing with this leading Russian corporation today,” the ambassador said.
Belarus and Rosatom are discussing the possibility of building additional nuclear power units in our country, he added. “Today our builders work all over the world as they gained the relevant experience when constructing the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Rosatom highly appreciates the qualifications of these employees. This gives us the opportunity to say that we have built a new high-tech industry,” Ambassador Aleksandr Rogozhnik noted.
