Belarus ready to supply passenger vehicles to Russia’s Kemerovo Oblast

MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – Belarus can supply passenger vehicles to Kemerovo Oblast, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said as he met with Governor of Russia’s Kemerovo Oblast (Kuzbass) Ilya Seredyuk, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has been closely cooperating with Kemerovo Oblast for a long time. Industry is at the heart of our partnership; and BelAZ is an essential element of it. Your region is among the world leaders in coal mining. This is the area where we have the biggest cooperation prospects. But we can cooperate in other areas as well. We would like our BelAZ maintenance center to branch out into servicing machinery of other enterprises of the Industry Ministry. Agriculture is also important for the region, so we can offer our products for this sector. Although the distance is considerable, we can think of something to resolve this issue,” said Anatoly Sivak.

He mentioned financial incentives to promote Belarusian exports. “Our enterprises will certainly participate in tenders held in your region, including tenders for passenger vehicles. We have recently expanded the production of MAZ buses. Electric transport is currently gaining traction in our cities. We are gradually switching to electric buses in oblast centers, gaining experience and studying the economic performance and efficiency of this type of transport, and we can share this information with transport companies. Trolleybus traffic is a significant part of public transportation in Minsk and other cities. Our trolleybuses with autonomous running capability can recharge their batteries while moving and operate off-wire for a portion of their route. This project has proved a success. We can also show you these statistics,” the deputy prime minister noted.

In his opinion, Belarus and Kemerovo Oblast have everything in place to step up cooperation. “We would like to take it up a notch. Our industry works largely on components from Russia. This is the equipment that our workers are accustomed to. It is stable, reliable, and meets quality parameters,” Anatoly Sivak said.

The Kemerovo Oblast governor expressed interest in developing relations with Belarus across the board. “We are absolutely open to dialogue and would like our relations to thrive. We believe we can ramp up trade compared to last year. We think that Belarus' competencies can come in handy for our agriculture,” he noted.
