MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarus advocates liberalization of the EAEU's international road haulage with third countries, Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksei Lyakhnovich said during the panel session “Sustainable Transport in the Eurasian Region: Mobility, Multimodality and Digitalization” held as part of the Eurasian Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.
The liberalization of international road haulage with third countries was initiated by Belarus. “I urge you to step up efforts to address this matter. In my opinion, we lack breakthrough solutions in road transport that would allow us to successfully redirect flows of goods and raw materials from the West to the South and the East. I believe that liberalization and harmonization of this business will contribute to dynamic development of road transport in the union,” said Aleksei Lyakhnovich.

According to the minister, digitalization remains one of the priorities for the transport complex. Particular attention is paid to transportation digitalization and the development of intelligent transport systems. “Computer vision and artificial intelligence help vehicles to accurately detect and respond to road conditions. For these purposes, the Road Traffic Research Center has been created in Belarus. Next year, we will complete the development of a software and hardware complex for this center,” added Aleksei Lyakhnovich.
