Belarus poultry factories might get certificates for offal supplies to China in Q1

MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – Belarus is set to certify its poultry factories in order to be able to export offal to China. The certification process is to be completed in Q1 2019, Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, told the media during a briefing, BelTA has learned.

“Last year our meat producers were off to a good start with their exports to China. In 2018 we shipped $1.3 million worth of boned beef to this country. Our poultry products (boned meat) are also popular; we have already supplied them to the tune of $3.4 million. I think next year poultry meat will be the driver of our export growth, because the demand is huge. We hope that in Q1 2019 we will be able to complete the certification of our poultry factories in order to get the right to supply offal to China. In fact, it is offal that is particularly popular with Chinese consumers. All the documents are already with the registration authority. We expect the process to be finalized soon,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

Five poultry factories are certified for export to China. These are Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory, Poultry Plant Druzhba, Servolux, and Smolevichi Broiler. Veles-Meat and Mogilev Meat Packing Plant are certified to export beef to China.
