Belarus' potential presented at business forum in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, 26 November (BelTA) – Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Mikhail Myatlikov presented Belarus' economic potential at the Belarus-Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad on 25 November, BelTA learned from the BelCCI.

The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the largest business association in the Republic of Belarus, Mikhail Myatlikov remarked. The BelCCI has more than 2,600 members across almost all segments of the economy: from legal consulting and logistics to food production, textiles and heavy engineering.

“We have something to offer our Pakistani partners. Today, the Republic of Belarus is a strong state with a powerful manufacturing sector and a developed agriculture, with a great transport and logistics potential and, most importantly, this is a country that is committed to constantly improving the living standards of the population. Our country is the CIS leader in terms of Sustainable Development Goals achievements, ranking 30th among 167 countries in the world; 100% of the population has access to electricity. Belarus ranks 26th among 234 countries and autonomous territories in terms of the number of bilateral investment agreements,” the BelCCI chief said.
According to Mikhail Myatlikov, in 2023 Belarus exported goods to 157 countries. It is among the top six exporters of flax and linen fabrics in the world and the world's 6th biggest exporter of rapeseed oil.
“In recent years, Belarus has turned into one of the leading food exporters. By the end of 2024, food exports are expected to amount to $9 billion. Belarusian agricultural products and foodstuffs are supplied to more than a hundred countries around the world,” he said. “We expect that the agreements that will be reached at the forum will expand existing business ties and lay a solid foundation for future economic projects.” 

The business forum brought together representatives of Belarus and Pakistan who are set discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, namely participation in exhibition events in both countries, the implementation of a roadmap that will form the basis for further interaction between the two countries.
