MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Poland can gain more benefits from neighborhood, Belarus Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade, co-chairman of the Belarusian-Polish commission on economic cooperation Vladimir Koltovich said at the 11th Forum of Polish Investors in Minsk on 11 December, BelTA has learned.
“Poland and Belarus are members of different integration associations. But I am confident we, being the neighboring states, can use this to gain more,” Vladimir Koltovich said.
According to the minister, Poland is among leading investors in the Belarusian economy, ranking fourth behind Russia, the UK and Cyprus. “We are happy that Polish companies have always showed interest in the Belarusian market,” he stressed.
Poland's Ambassador to Belarus Artur Michalski said that the number of the forum participants has doubled this year to exceed 200 experts. “This shows the growing interest in cooperation,” the ambassador said. In his words, it is necessary to continue building up mutual trust. “Not everything is rosy, however. Some Polish companies are facing problems. We are talking over the ways to solve any emerging issues,” Artur Michalski said.
Deputy Director for International Trade at the Ministry of Economic Development of Poland Artur Dabkowski assured, for his part, that Poland is interested in developing relations with Belarus. According to him, the countries can reach a record-high trade in 2019.
The 11th Forum of Polish Investors discusses cooperation prospects and directions for Polish investment, interaction in woodworking and furniture industry, transport and logistics.
