MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) - The government want the agricultural industry to make a significant breakthrough, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he visited the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB), BelTA has learned.
Microbiology helps ensure scientific and technological sovereignty of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko emphasized. “The Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus works in several areas that are very important for the national economy, for our social and economic development. We have talked a lot about it today: we seek significant breakthroughs in the production of agro-industrial goods, particularly milk and dairy products. For this purpose, of course, we need to provide the livestock industry with highly efficient and high-energy fodder. It is impossible to make such a leap without it,” he said. “In order to have fodder, it is necessary not only to stock it, but also know how to preserve it.”
According to the prime minister, this goal is difficult to achieve without the use of modern feed additives. “Today the scientists of the institute are working in the area and have already made products that are actively used by our agricultural organizations today,” Roman Golovchenko said.
Thirdly, it is scientific and practical cooperation with Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation, the flagship of the biotechnological industry. "Very important work is underway to create our own strains of microorganisms, which are used in the production of biotechnological drugs. Therefore, the tasks are ambitious and the scale of work is huge," the head of government concluded.

There are many such products on the market, he continued. "Imported ones, and also the ones made by other manufacturers, including private ones. But as I was told today, this institute produces additives using domestic microorganisms, which were isolated from different regions of Belarus, and therefore have high efficiency," Roman Golovchenko noted. “Therefore, feed additives and additives to improve the physiological processes of animals during nutrition are a very important topic. It is important that we do this and have good results."
Next is medicine. "There are very solid developments. The trials on revolutionary drugs for the treatment of very serious diseases are to complete soon. I hope that they will be successful," the prime minister said.
