Belarus' PM urges EAEU countries to address food security issues together

MOSCOW, 13 December (BelTA) - The EAEU countries need to address the issues of food security and food price fluctuations together, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Moscow on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

As for the development of the agricultural industry and ensuring food security, Roman Golovchenko recalled that the prime ministers of the EAEU countries have already discussed these matters at a meeting in Belarus in June of 2024. "Over the past months, this topic has become even more relevant. There is a significant fluctuation in prices in our countries for certain goods such as butter, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions, apples. There are also signs of a small deficit," he stated.

"It is much easier to cope with the existing risks and provide our people with key food products in the necessary volume at affordable prices together," the prime minister emphasized.
