Belarus' PM pledges support for import substitution projects through lending tools

MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian government is ready to support import substitution projects through attractive lending tools, Belarus' Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said in his address to participants of the Best Exporter of the Year 2021 contest.

The Belarusian head of government noted that exporters have to work in difficult conditions caused by serious sanctions and unprecedented pressure from unfriendly states. Such challenges prompt Belarus to look for new opportunities and ways to overcome obstacles, alternative markets and optimal logistics schemes.

“The main thing is to keep going, to find new partners in the markets of the EAEU member states, China and other friendly countries amidst the fundamental restructuring of foreign economic relations. Another vitally important task is rational import substitution. The government is ready to support relevant projects, including through attractive lending tools,” Roman Golovchenko said.

The government also counts on the potential of the contestants, professionalism, responsibility, innovative approach and the ability to keep up with the times. “The results of the contest are clear evidence that Belarus has successful companies that produce highly competitive products, provide in-demand services, make our country visible in the international arena. Despite all the difficulties, Belarus managed to significantly grow its export and to achieve a record-high trade surplus. Of course, in many respects this is the result of the fruitful work of all Belarusian companies on foreign markets,” the prime minister stressed.
