MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Strengthening technological sovereignty is a strategic task for the EAEU, Belarus' Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin said at the opening ceremony of the Eurasian Economic Forum, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus places economic diplomacy at the forefront of its foreign policy. It seeks to streamline trade procedures and to build a mutually beneficial model of cooperation with all states. The integration cooperation within the EAEU is also built on these principles. Over the past ten years this interaction has brought meaningful results and has become an important development tool for all member states, including Belarus. Thus, from 2015 to 2024, Belarus' export to the EAEU countries soared more than 2.5 times. Over the ten years when Belarus has been part of the EAEU, its industrial output has increased by almost 20%,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

At the same time, Belarus has repeatedly urged its partner states to take action to boost the technological sovereignty of the EAEU. “By combining our unique competencies, we will be able to develop exclusive products and achieve complete technological independence. Making the most of our potential should become a strategic development task for the union,” the prime minister remarked.
Belarus has something to offer to its Eurasian partners, he emphasized. “We have a strong background and expertise in mechanical engineering, petrochemical industry, woodworking, and agricultural industry. Belarus' BelAZ is one of the leaders in the production of quarry dump trucks. One of BelAZ mining dump trucks is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest vehicle. Belarusian goods have earned a good reputation in the EAEU, and the 'Made in Belarus' brand has become synonymous to quality for many. And we intend to keep it up,” the Belarusian head of government emphasized.

Belarus makes a significant contribution to food security in the EAEU. Belarus' share in the union's mutual trade in foodstuffs exceeds 40%. According to Aleksandr Turchin, Belarus will remain a reliable supplier of high-quality food products to its EAEU partners.
“Our country is recognized as one of the global leaders in the export of IT services per capita. Mobile applications created by residents of the Hi-Tech Park are used by over 1 billion people in more than 190 countries of the world. We are ready to actively participate in coordinating digital policies of the EAEU member states, developing cybersecurity mechanisms and solutions to combat digital threats, promoting innovation and supporting startups in the field of information technology,” the prime minister said.

According to him, the topic for today's forum - “The strategy of Eurasian economic integration: Results and prospects” - was not chosen by chance. “In his address to the heads of state of the EAEU member states, the president of Belarus emphasized that 2025 is a landmark year. Completing the five-year period of implementing the Eurasian integration strategies, we are laying the foundation for a successful new stage that was specified in the Eurasian Economic Path Declaration. These two documents provide exhaustive answers to the main questions about outcomes and prospects of integration efforts in the Eurasian space. Dialogue on the strategy of Eurasian economic integration, its results and prospects will allow the EAEU member states to compare their notes for further joint movement forward,” the Belarusian head of government remarked.
