Belarus plans to double peat export to China

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - Belarus plans to double the export of peat products to China, BelTA learned from the press service of the Energy Ministry of Belarus.

“The export of peat products by the state production association Beltopgaz is one example of practical cooperation with Chinese partners. The first peat shipments to China began in 2019–2020. Belarusian enterprises have registered with China's General Administration of Customs and obtained the status of official suppliers. Since 2022, exports have been steadily growing with the assistance of the Great Stone Industrial Park and the Belarusian Embassy in China. In 2026-2030, plans are in place to double the export to China and expand the product range, including products from deep peat processing,” the Energy Ministry stated.

In 2025, Belarus exported approximately 26,900 tonnes of peat products to China, worth about $2.4 million. The Chinese market is interested in high-moor baled peat and peat-based nutrient substrates with specified characteristics, tailored to the needs of the agricultural and horticultural sectors.

From 2023 to 2025, enterprises affiliated with the state production association Beltopgaz participated in international exhibitions and business forums in Belarus and China.
