Belarus, Nicaragua to expand trade, economic ties

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Nicaragua are set to expand trade and economic ties. Prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed at a meeting between Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua Denis Moncada Colindres, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian ministry of foreign affairs.

“The parties discussed a wide range of issues of Belarusian-Nicaraguan cooperation, including the interaction of the two countries within international organizations,” the ministry said. “Special attention was paid to the prospects of expanding bilateral trade and economic ties.”

The diplomats noted that Belarus and Nicaragua launched a visa waiver in 2024 to promote tourist trips between the countries.

As BelTA reported earlier, the Belarusian government delegation led by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko paid a visit to Latin America.

Thus, Belarus and Venezuela outlined steps to restart joint projects in industry and other areas. Agreements were reached with Cuba on the supply of tractors, milk powder and cooperation in pharmaceuticals. In Nicaragua, contracts were signed for the supply of more than 700 units of machinery worth $85 million.

As the prime minister said, the visit was aimed at laying a solid foundation for cooperation.
