Belarus needs more workers to export construction services

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – The current number of construction workers in Belarus is sufficient for satisfying the domestic demand but more are needed to increase the export of goods and services. Belarusian First Deputy Architecture and Construction Ministry Igor Kostyukov made the statement during the press conference held on 28 July to discuss development prospects of the Belarusian civil engineering industry ahead of Builder's Day, BelTA has learned.

There are over 137,000 construction workers in Belarus. “We have totally different technologies in the civil engineering industry now. A lot of machines and mechanisms to replace manual labor are now available. This number of workers is sufficient for our country. But considering instructions to increase the export of goods and services, we need more [workers],” Igor Kostyukov said.

The official added that the civil engineering industry's average salary totaled Br1,377 in January-June 2021. It is not such a large sum but it has been really earned and corresponds to the country's average, he noted.
