Belarus named EAEU's only country with trade surplus with Russia

MOSCOW, 11 January (BelTA) - Belarus is the only country in the Eurasian Economic Union that has a trade surplus with Russia, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the opening ceremony of the Brest Oblast Days at VDNKh in Moscow on 11 January, BelTA has learned.

"EAEU five states, Belarus, Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, cooperate with each other very actively. And yet only Belarus has a trade surplus with the Russian Federation. I once again checked with the Ambassador [of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi] and confirmed that the surplus is expected to exceed $2 billion in 2023. Unfortunately, other states [of the EAEU] are not so active in trade with Russia and have a trade deficit," Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

In his opinion, it is no coincidence that Belarus is so actively involved in the Russia international exhibition-forum running at VDNKh. "Belarus is indeed a reliable and stable partner of Russia. Representatives of the Russian regions present here can confirm this. Belarusian goods are on sale throughout the country. They are competitive and of high quality Mikhail Myasnikovich added.
