MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) - Belarus has become one of China’s fastest-growing trading partners in Eurasia, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said in an interview to BelTA.

Over the past four years, pragmatic cooperation between China and Belarus has focused on the joint construction of Belt and Road as the main line of cooperation. Emphasis has been placed on the implementation of a number of landmark projects such as the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, as well as the development of ties in traditional fields such as mechanical engineering, agricultural production and biotechnology.

“The level of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is steadily rising. Last year, bilateral trade reached a new high of $8.443 billion, which is up 2.8 times compared to 2020 ($3.003 billion),” the diplomat said.

Xie Xiaoyong also stressed: “China is Belarus's second largest trading partner, and Belarus has become one of China's fastest growing trading partners in Eurasia.”

According to the ambassador, China and Belarus have signed the Agreement on Trade in Services and Investment, which envisages that the two parties will further expand cooperation in trade in services and investment, and continue creating new models of cooperation.
