Belarus’ MFA: Relevance of Eurasian economic integration is beyond doubt today

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) - The relevance of Eurasian economic integration is beyond doubt even among skeptics today, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavel Utyupin said during the round table “The Future of the EAEU: Belarus at the Forefront of Integration Processes. Belarus’ Presidency in the EAEU Bodies” held at BelTA’s press center on 20 March.

“In recent years, we have been facing unprecedented geopolitical challenges that have the most direct impact on global economic processes. Tendencies of national selfishness are growing. Countries actively apply protectionism policy in international trade. There is a rollback from the ideas of globalization and active reformatting of the world economic system. The practice of sanctions pressure against those who, in the opinion of the ‘civilized world’, do wrong has become a permanent practice. Therefore, the decision taken 10 years ago by the leaders of our countries to set up the Eurasian Economic Union has stood the test of time. Today, the relevance of Eurasian economic integration is beyond doubt even among skeptics. The EAEU is an important participant in the global economic architecture,” Pavel Utyupin said.

Today, active work is underway to deepen economic integration, international positioning of the EAEU, formation of a network of free trade zones with prospective friendly countries. “The main thing is that we and our EAEU partners see the future and take not spontaneous, but carefully verified decisions to adapt Eurasian economic integration to modern trends and the pace of development of the global economy, as laid down in strategic planning documents. I would like to note that the main areas of the EAEU development until 2030 and for the period until 2045 have already been defined by the Eurasian Economic Way declaration signed by the EAEU heads of state in December 2023,” the deputy minister said.
