Belarus’ merchandise export close to $20bn in H1 2024

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – In H1 2024 Belarus exported nearly $20 billion worth of merchandise, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus Timofei Zhigarev at a press conference.

Timofei Zhigarev said: “We persistently increase the export of Belarusian goods to all the CIS states. In 2023 export amounted to $27.2 billion, 4.1% up from 2022. Meanwhile, we also actively cooperate with countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States. Merchandise export to non-CIS states increased by 3.5% in comparison with 2022.”

In H1 2024 merchandise export was close to $20 billion, 4.2% up from the same period of last year. The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus was quoted earlier as saying that Belarus’ foreign trade in merchandise and services increased by 3.2% in H1 2024 to $47.7 billion.

“Foreign trade demonstrates positive dynamics but in addition to the CIS states we also successfully maintain foreign economic ties with China, Germany, Kazakhstan, Italy, and other countries. The geography of foreign economic cooperation covers about 200 countries across the world,” the deputy chairman of the National Statistics Committee said.
