MOSCOW, 4 September (BelTA) – The intergovernmental agreement on cooperation between Belarus and St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, has been fully implemented. The fact was mentioned during a meeting of State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, BelTA learned from the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
“In many respects it is an example for the relations between the federal subjects of Russia and Belarus' regions,” Dmitry Mezentsev emphasized.
According to him, supplies of Belarus-made electrobuses, buses and road construction equipment to St. Petersburg contribute to the implementation of ambitious plans for the development of the city infrastructure.
Dmitry Mezentsev also expressed confidence that the proposal of Alexander Beglov to invite Belarusian school students, who participate in academic excellence competitions in history, to St. Petersburg during school vacations would be warmly welcomed in Belarus.
During the conversation Alexander Beglov noted Belarus' contribution to the construction of the so-called Belarusian quarter in one of the new districts of St. Petersburg, emphasizing really high quality of the builders' work.
Dmitry Mezentsev said that previously Rector of St. Petersburg State University, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Kropachev had an informative talk with Rector of Belarusian State University Andrei Korol. The parties discussed the interaction between St. Petersburg State University and Belarus' universities and the initiative of St. Petersburg University to cooperate with Belarusian State University in improving joint academic programs for Russian and Belarusian students.
"The governor described the preparation of the city, together with Russia's Culture Ministry, for the tenth St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum. Belarus' representative delegation is expected to take part in the forum," the Standing Committee added.
