Belarus looks to enhance cooperation with UAE in banking sector

MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Roman Golovchenko held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Belarus Ibrahim Salim Mohamed Al Musharrakh in Minsk on 30 July, the National Bank’s press service told BelTA.

Belarus places significant emphasis on developing relations with the United Arab Emirates, which is one of the country’s strategic partners in the region. A high level of friendly relations has been established between the two countries in politics, trade and economy, Roman Golovchenko stressed.

He highlighted that in late June 2025, two key agreements were signed in Minsk: one between the governments of Belarus and the UAE on trade in services and investment, and another on economic partnership between the Eurasian Economic Union and the UAE. When these agreements come into force, the UAE will become the first non-regional country with which Belarus will establish free trade zones for both goods and services.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation, including in the banking sector.

The National Bank is counting on the intensification of bilateral relations in all areas. There are no issues between the two countries that cannot be resolved, Roman Golovchenko added.
