MOSCOW, 1 July (BelTA) – Belarus is the second largest trading partner of Russia's Moscow Oblast yielding only to China, Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov said at the plenary session of the 8th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 1 July, BelTA has learned.
“Recently, Belarus has been one of our key our strategic partners,” Andrei Vorobyov said. “In terms of trade, Belarus places second, behind China. Germany rounds out the top three of Moscow Oblast's trading partners,” he added.
According to Andrei Vorobyov, Belarus and Moscow Oblast have stepped up cooperation in the past five years. “Active cooperation enables us to conclude mutually beneficial contracts. In 2020, 23 companies of Moscow Oblast signed contracts to supply products to Belarus. This year, this figure already stands at 28,” the governor said. As many as 120 Belarusian companies successfully operate in the territory of Moscow Oblast. The Russian region is also home to offices of Belarusian companies that deliver food and mechanical engineering products.
“We understand that Belarus is in a difficult situation right now, but I would like to note that we are always happy to see new investors and are ready to facilitate joint projects,” Andrei Vorobyov stressed.
