MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) - An agreement to intensify the Belarusian-Iranian business cooperation was reached during a series of meetings of a delegation of the National Marketing Center with Iranian partners in Tehran. The purpose of the visit was to expand the channels of bilateral interaction within the framework of membership of both states in the SCO, BelTA learned from the Belarusian National Center for Marketing.
The Belarusian delegation met with Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade of Iran, Head of the Trade Development Organization Mohammad-Ali Dehghan Dehnavi. The partners agreed to exchange visits of expert delegations to chart joint steps to support exporters of both countries (in particular, to prepare a series of analytical materials for business). Already this May, Tehran will host major international exhibitions Iran Agrofood and Iran Oil Show. The Iranian side pledged to organize visits of local businesses to Belarusian stands.
The Belarusian delegation and Mr Mahmoud Najafi Arab, Chairman of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, discussed the possibilities to intensify contacts between the business communities of Belarus and Iran. Director of the Belarusian National Marketing Center Nikolai Borisevich reaffirmed commitment to hosting an Iranian business mission in Belarus and organizing meetings with Belarusian counterparts. In turn, the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture pledged to help with the search for Iranian partners for Belarusian companies, including online. The parties signed a bilateral memorandum spelling out the intentions and other plans.
The Belarusian delegation and Majidreza Hariri, Iran’s representative in the SCO Business Council, President of the Iran-China Chamber of Commerce and Industries, agreed to give impetus to the work within the framework of the SCO Business Council. The parties noted the expediency of organizing a face-to-face meeting of the national representatives before the SCO forum in Beijing in July. It is not ruled out that such a meeting may take place in Minsk as early as this spring.
The talks with the Hamidreza Ghaznavi, Secretary-General of the Entrepreneurs Association of Iran, were devoted to the prospects of expanding direct contacts of Belarusian enterprises with the private sector of Iran. The memorandum of understanding signed at the end of the meeting noted the readiness of both countries to facilitate greater involvement of companies in the business dialogue, including through participation in events for the business community.
