Belarus interested in supplies of passenger transport, farm machinery to Kyrgyzstan

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) - Belarus is interested in supplying passenger transport and farm machinery to Kyrgyzstan, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Head of Kyrgyzstan President Administration Akylbek Japarov on 24 February, BelTA has learned.

“I am glad to have this meeting and to discuss our cooperation and joint projects. There is a positive trend, there is an increase in supplies from both the sides. In late 2021, we reached serious agreements to update the transport fleet of Kyrgyzstan, your capital. A number of visits took place and we handed over a MAZ bus for testing. The parties also discussed financial issues, and a draft intergovernmental agreement. We are ready to act fast in order to sign the agreement and commercial contracts,” said Roman Golovchenko.

He also touched on the issue of supplies of agricultural machinery. “I would like to discuss how we can make it more attractive to Kyrgyzstan farmers,” the prime minister added.

In terms of Belarus' exports in 2021, Kyrgyzstan ranked 7th among the CIS countries. The trade amounted to $97.1 million, up by 41.3% over 2020, exports came at $86.2 million (up by 43.2%). Belarus had a surplus of $75.3 million. Belarus' major exports in 2021 were specific goods, meat and meat products, medicines, sugar, fiber boards, finished or canned meat products, insulated wires, cheeses and cottage cheese, carpets and floor coverings.

Kyrgyzstan's major imports to Belarus were parts and accessories for vehicles and tractors (mainly radiators), copper waste and scrap, communication equipment and parts for it, medical hygienic products made of rubber, dried fruits, mixtures of nuts or dried fruits, pasta, beans and other goods.

In Kyrgyzstan, there are 54 entities of the commodity distribution network and distributors of Belarusian enterprises, and they represent 56 Belarusian organizations. Six enterprises with Kyrgyz capital are registered in Belarus, including 2 joint ventures and 4 foreign ones.
