Belarus' Industry Ministry companies export 31.7% of output to non-CIS states

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – In 2020, enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian Industry Ministry shipped 31.7% of their output to non-CIS markets, Industry Minister Pyotr Parkhomchik said at a meeting of the ministry's collegium, BelTA has learned.

“In 2020 the export of the manufacturing industry was estimated at $3.66 billion, with a trade surplus standing at $1.9 billion. We retained a foothold in non-CIS countries. These markets account for 31.7% of our total export. This is a very good result,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.

He mentioned Zimbabwe as one of promising markets for Belarusian products. Over 750 pieces of equipment were shipped there, including tractors, combine harvesters, and vehicles made by Minsk Automobile Plant and Bobruiskagromash. “We have grounds to believe that we will be able to double deliveries to this region this year. Zimbabwe's neighbors see that the Belarusian equipment is performing quite well. Thus, we have already been approached by other countries of the African continent,” the minister noted.
