Belarus' industrial output down by 1.8% in January-September 2020

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – In January-September 2020, Belarus' industrial output amounted to Br83.1 billion in current prices, which made up 98.2% as against the same period of 2019 in comparable prices, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus.

Industrial output declined by 1.8% in the mining industry, by 1.6% in the processing industry, and by 0.3% in the industry providing water supply, waste collection, processing, and treatment, pollution cleanup. The production of electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and conditioned air shrank by 3.9%.

In September 2020, the industrial output index equaled 101.4% as against September 2019 and 101% as against August 2020.

In January-September 2020, industrial output of wood, paper, and printed products went up by 16.1% year-on-year in comparable prices. Output of staple pharmaceutical products and preparations increased by 11.6%, food products, drinks and tobacco products – by 3.8%, transport vehicles and equipment – by 1.1%.
