MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Hungary Aleksandr Ponomarev visited the town of Paks where the Paks Nuclear Power Plant is located, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Hungary.
The diplomat held talks with senior executives of the nuclear power plant and studied the operation of the nuclear power plant and its security systems. He also visited the site allocated for the construction of the new Paks-2 nuclear power plant with two VVER-1200 power units.
In addition, the ambassador met with János Süli, minister without portfolio responsible for the planning, construction and commissioning of the two new blocks at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy, including the exchange of best practices in the field of NPP operation and nuclear waste disposal.
They also discussed a possibility to sign new documents and to exchange visits in the near future.
