Belarus harvests over 3.5m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus has threshed more than 3,540,800 tonnes of grain, with the average yield of 37.7 centners per hectare, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 9 August, harvesting was completed on 73.9% of the area (255,600 hectares) in Brest Oblast, 26% (94,200 hectares) in Vitebsk Oblast, 51.9% (179,900 hectares) in Gomel Oblast, 36.7% (112,100 hectares) in Grodno Oblast, 41.4% (185,700 hectares) in Minsk Oblast, and 33.9% (112,500 hectares) in Mogilev Oblast.

Malt barley was harvested from 26,600 hectares of land (48.8% of the plan), with 113,200 tonnes threshed and the average yield at 42.5 centners per hectare. Winter rapeseed was gathered in from 270,000 hectares of land or 87.6% of the targeted area, with 709,600 tonnes threshed and the average yield at 26.3 centners per hectare.

Flax was cleared from the area of 32,300 hectares (72.9%).

As part of the second cutting agricultural workers cut down grass on 798,600 hectares or 78.2% of the targeted area. Some 684,900 tonnes of hay (71.7% of the target), 11.590 million tonnes of haylage (86.3%), and 317,100 tonnes of silage (1.66%) were produced.
