Belarus' harvest exceeds 4.6m tonnes of grain

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – More than 4.6 million tonnes of grain have been harvested in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 10 August, 1.449 million hectares planted to grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat, millet) were harvested, or almost 67.6% of the target. In the lead is Brest Oblast with 270,400 hectares, or 80.2% of the areas cropped. Gomel Oblast cropped 73,7% of its areas (256,400 hectares), Mogilev Oblast – 69.5% (226,700 hectares), Minsk Oblast – 65.3% (311,300 hectares), Vitebsk Oblast – 61.9% (213,300 hectares) and Grodno Oblast – 54.8% (170,900 hectares).

All in all, 4,641,000 tonnes of grain were threshed, with the average yield at 32 centners per hectare.

The second hay cutting was completed on 760,100 hectares (93.6% of the plan). A total of 827,100 tonnes of hay (74.1% of the target) has been harvested so far, as well as 11,769,000 tonnes of haylage (87.1%) and 338,400 tonnes of silage (1.75%).
