
MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - The Economy Ministry named the growth drivers of the Belarusian economy in January-April 2025, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
The GDP grew by 2.8% in January-April. The major contributors were the construction industry (11.4%), manufacturing sector (1.3%), information and communication (5.5%), trade (2.6%).
In January-April retail expanded by 10%, thanks to the outstripping growth of real incomes of households (12% in January-March). In January-April investments in fixed assets surged by 15%.
Enterprises continue to actively invest in their technological development and renewal: expenses on purchasing machinery and equipment increased by more than 20%.
In January-April, 1,147,000 square meters of housing was commissioned, up by 12.1% year-on-year, which ensured high rates in the construction sector.
Annual inflation accelerated slightly and amounted to 6.5% in April. This was due to the decisions taken to increase regulated prices (tariffs), and to the growth of prices for some goods, mainly imported one.
The stable operation of the economy makes it possible to ensure a high level of average salaries: more than Br2,480 in January-March 2025. The average size of labor pensions exceeded Br900.
