Belarus' green economy promotion plan put out for public consultation

MINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – The Council of Ministers' draft resolution “On Approval of the National Action Plan for the Development of the Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus for 2021-2025” has been put out for the public to have their say, BelTA informs with reference to the National Legal Internet Portal.

Taking into account the social and economic situation, prospects, feasibility and international commitments, it is proposed that the national action plan should include measures to promote sustainable consumption and production, sustainable finance, circular economy, organic agriculture, ecotourism (sustainable tourism), low carbon energy solutions, electric transport (infrastructure) and urban mobility. These activities provide for the development of smart, energy-efficient green cities, climate change mitigation and adaptation to climate change, as well as the conservation and sustainable use of biological and landscape diversity. It is planned to conduct awareness-raising and educational events and provide scientific support for the transition to a green economy.

The substantiation for the document reads that the draft resolution is consistent with the national sustainable development strategy for the period up to 2035 and the main objectives of the country's social and economic development.

The public discussion is organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

Comments and proposals can be put forward at the Belarus Legal Forum or sent to the organizer of the public discussion on 27 May-6 June to the email address: an_work@minpriroda.gov.by.
