Belarus’ grain harvest past 7.6m tonnes 

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Some 7.6 million tonnes of grain has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry. 

As of 20 August, some 7,654,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus. The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast harvested 1.889 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1.640 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast- 1.533 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast- 1 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast- 917,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 675,000 tonnes.

Belarus has harvested 83% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops (maize not taken into account), which makes up 2,004,000 hectares.
Average grain yield is 8.6 centners per hectare higher than last year’s level. 

Some 447,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 64% of the target. The state procurement plan for rapeseed oilseeds has been 100% fulfilled. 

Winter rapeseed for grain has been sown across 281,000 hectares, representing 64% of the planned area. 

Flax has been pulled from 40,000 hectares, accounting for 83% of the planned area.  

Some 369,000 tonnes of hay (51% of the plan) and 11.961 million tonnes of haylage (86% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 391,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging. 

Forage production has reached 3.649 million tonnes (36% of target).
