Belarus’ grain harvest past 3.7m tonnes

MINSK, 6 August (BelTA) - Over 3.7 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 6 August, some 3,752,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus. The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast harvested 1.04 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast 805,000 tonnes, Minsk Oblast 744,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast 460,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 423,000 tonnes, and Vitebsk Oblast 280,000 tonnes. Belarus has harvested 37% of areas planted to grain crops (maize, buckwheat and millet not taken into account), which makes up 736,000 hectares. Some 105,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 15% of the target, along with 64,000 tonnes of rapeseed oilseeds, fulfilling 67% of the plan.

Flax has been pulled from 23,000 hectares, accounting for almost 48% of the planned area. Second-cut grasses have been mowed on 859,000 hectares, exceeding 80% of the target. 

Some 305,000 tonnes of hay (42% of the plan) and 11.226 million tonnes of haylage (over 80% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 342,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging. Forage production has reached 3.404 million tonnes (34% of target).
