MINSK, 25 July (BelTA) – Belarus has harvested almost 14.6% of areas planted to grain crops (maize, buckwheat and millet not taken into account), which makes up 291,000 hectares, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
Harvesting rates have accelerated. “As of 25 July, preliminary data shows that 1.22 million tonnes of grain have been threshed. The average yield is 7.8 centners per hectare higher than last year,” the ministry said.
Winter barley has been harvested from 88.5% of the sown area, yielding 855,000 tonnes at an average of 39.5 centners per hectare, 7.2 centners per hectare more than the previous year.
Winter rapeseed for grain has been harvested from 73,400 hectares (19% of the total area), producing 154,700 tonnes.
Flax has been pulled from 12,000 hectares, accounting for 25% of the planned area. Second-cut grasses have been mowed on 717,000 hectares, reaching 67% of the target.
Over 265,000 tonnes of hay (37% of the plan) and 10.36 million tonnes of haylage (74% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 273,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging.
