MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) - According to preliminary data, Belarus’ international reserve assets totaled the equivalent of $8.923 billion as of 1 January 2025, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
The country’s gold and foreign currency reserves went up by $127.7 million (or 1.45%) in December 2024 after falling by $139 million (1.6%) in November 2024.
Foreign currency assets and monetary gold make up the largest share in the structure of international reserve assets of Belarus. According to the National Bank, the amount of foreign currency in the reserves totaled $3,052.4 billion on 1 January 2025, up by $205,9 million (7.2%) in December 2024, with monetary gold at $4,522.9 billion, decreasing by $71.9 million (1.56%).
According to the main monetary management guidelines for the year 2024, Belarus’ international reserve assets were projected to be at least $6 billion at the end of 2024.
