Belarus’ gold, forex reserves at $8.127bn on 1 January 2024

MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – According to preliminary data, Belarus’ international reserve assets totaled the equivalent of $8,127 million as of 1 January 2024, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

The country’s gold and foreign currency reserves went down by $128.2 million (or 1.55%) in December 2023 after growing by $108.7 million (1.3%) in November 2023.

Foreign currency assets and monetary gold make the largest share in the structure of international reserve assets of Belarus. According to the National Bank, the amount of foreign currency in the reserves totaled $3,157 million on 1 January 2024, decreasing by $199 million (5.9%) in December, with monetary gold at $3,582 million, $57.7 million up (1.63%).

According to the main monetary management guidelines for the year 2024, Belarus’ international reserve assets are supposed to be at least $6 billion at the end of 2024.
