Belarus’ gold, forex reserves at $8.093bn on 1 February 2024

 MINSK, 7 February (BelTA) – According to preliminary data, Belarus’ international reserve assets totaled the equivalent of $8.093 billion as of 1 February 2024, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB). 

The country’s gold and foreign currency reserves went down by $33.9 million (or 0.4%) in January 2024 after declining by $128.2 million (1.55%) in December 2023. 

Foreign currency assets and monetary gold make the largest share in the structure of international reserve assets of Belarus. According to the National Bank, the amount of foreign currency in the reserves totaled $3.150 billion on 1 February 2024, decreasing by $7 million (0.2%) in December, with monetary gold at $3.563 billion, down by $18.7 million (0.5%). 

According to the main monetary management guidelines for the year 2024, Belarus’ international reserve assets are projected to be at least $6 billion at the end of 2024.
