Belarus’ GDP expected to increase by 3.3% in 2021

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) - The Economy Ministry forecasts the GDP growth at 3.3% in 2021, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov told the media ahead of a meeting of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.

"The head of state set us the target of 3.3%. We are set to hit this mark this year. Today we will consider the measures to ensure this growth. 3.3% is the target that the government will meet," Aleksandr Chervyakov said.

The efficiency of business processes and investments is among the important issues that require special attention.

In H1 2021 Belarus’ GDP rose by 3.3%. The figure was the same in January-July. "Industry was the main contributor to the GDP growth. The services industry has been recovering since April. Some 80% of services sectors are already in the positive zone. The greatest contributors are catering and transport. The IT continues to grow steadily. So the services sector is becoming one of the drivers of economic growth," the minister said.
