Belarus, France to sign agreement on air service in early 2020

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Belarus and France intend to sign an intergovernmental agreement on air service in early 2020, Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Artem Sikorsky told BelTA.

Artem Sikorsky met with Ambassador of France to Belarus Didier Canesse in Minsk on 29 October. The parties hailed the high level of bilateral cooperation in civil aviation. “We agreed that probably in early January a delegation of the French aviation administration will come on an official visit to Belarus, where the parties will sign the agreement. Until then we will have experts work on the agreement,” Artem Sikorsky said.

He noted that so far the countries have only exchanged memorandums of understanding.

The future agreement will also regulate launch of flights between the two countries and assignment of air carriers, Artem Sikorsky said.

Artem Sikorsky thinks that the document might help expand the list of flights between Belarus and France. At present, direct flight connection is organized via the flights Minsk-Paris and Minsk-Nice.
