MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – In January-October 2024 Belarus’ foreign trade in merchandise and services increased by 6.1% year-on-year to $82.8 billion, BelTA learned from the statistics data released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).
The foreign trade in services went up by 9.3%. Exports of services came close to $8 billion in January-October 2024, which was up by 11.4% year-on-year. Imports of services rose by 6.3% to total $5.2 billion. Belarus ran a surplus of foreign trade in services exceeding $2.7 billion, which was up by 22.5% over January-October 2023.
The growing surplus of foreign trade in services largely compensated for the increase in the deficit of foreign trade in goods. In January-October 2024, the deficit in foreign trade in goods amounted to $3.1 billion, which was due to the outstripping growth of imports (+7.4%) compared to exports (+3.5%). At the same time, the merchandise exports in January-October of 2024 exceeded $33.3 billion.
