Belarus finishes harvesting first-cutting forages

MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – Harvesting first-cutting forages is complete in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Second grass was cut on the area of 422,300 hectares (40% of the target) and removed from the area of 372,100 hectares, which is 88.1% of the grass cut. After first-cutting, fertilizers were introduced on the area of 273,200 hectares, or 19.4%.

Winter barley was harvested from the area of 132,100 hectares, or 50.2% of the harvested area, and 486,800 tonnes were threshed with a yield of 36.9 c/haWinter rapeseed for grain was harvested from 3,540 hectares (82.1% of the harvested area), and 3,960 tonnes were threshed with a yield of 11.2 c/ha..
Belarus harvested 9,030,700 tonnes of haylage (67.8%), 293,500 tonnes of hay (41.9%), and 229,700 tonnes of silage (1.12%). Some 27.9% of the grass feed was stocked.
