Belarus featured at Gulfood 2020 in Dubai

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Belarusian food products are featured at the world's largest trade show Gulfood which is running in Dubai, the United Arab Emirated on 16-20 February, BelTA learned from the Belinterexpo enterprise of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The exposition “Belarus. The Taste of Nature” is showcasing the products of nine companies-exporters of meat, dairy and confectionery goods. These are Bellakt, Lida Milk Plant and Rogachev milk canning factories, Slutsk Cheese-Making Plant and Turov Dairy Plant, Primemilk, Verkhnedvinsk Creamery, Slonim Meat Processing Plant, Lidapishchekontsentraty. All of them have the international certificates of conformity with ISO requirements and have the Halal certificates.

The exposition is organized with the support of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the embassy of Belarus in the UAE, the consulate-general in Dubai, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Belarus' Agriculture and Food Ministry. The Belarusian participants are holding seminars and presentations. The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized the conference Gulfood Breakfast Briefing on 17 February to discuss the trends in the UAE food market and also the UAE custom and logistic regulations on food import.

The participants of the Belarusian exposition are set to hold negotiations with buyers and importers from more than 190 countries. Last year the Belarusian enterprises signed contracts worth $13 million. This year, there are grounds to expect higher results. During the first days of the trade show Belarus already struck $2.5 million contracts.

“The success of the trade show is partially determined by its venue. The United Arab Emirates is the world's third largest re-export market behind Hong Kong and Singapore,” Belinterexpo noted. “More than 80% of food products in the Gulf Cooperation Council region (GCC), which includes Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia, are imported through the UAE.” In 2019, Belarus exported $95 million worth of products to the UAE.
