Belarus eyes to diversify supplies to Russia with new industrial products

MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) - Belarus intends to diversify its supplies to the Russian market by introducing new industrial products, Belarus’ Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin told journalists following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.

One of the topics of the report was Belarus-Russia industrial cooperation, its current state and prospects for further development. These issues were discussed at a meeting between Aleksandr Turchin and Russian Industry and Trade Minister Anton Alikhanov on 15 October. As a result, a decision was made to diversify supplies to the Russian market with new products. “We should not only focus on the traditional products we supply to the Russian Federation, but also introduce new goods that the Russian market needs and that we are capable of producing,” the prime minister stressed.

As an example, he cited Amkodor forestry machines, which Russia is highly interested in purchasing. During the meeting with Anton Alikhanov, it was decided to arrange deliveries to the Russian market within a short time frame. “The process is already underway, but we certainly need to finalize it very quickly. Starting as early as next year, we must begin intensive deliveries of these machines to the Russian Federation,” Aleksandr Turchin said.

He added that other issues, including problematic ones, were also on the agenda of his meeting with Anton Alikhanov. “But we resolved most of them during today’s talks,” the prime minister assured. “At the end of the year, we will hold a joint board meeting of the industry ministries. At the expanded-format meeting, our colleagues will once again discuss everything in detail, review the prospects of our cooperation, and find solutions to certain issues.”

On 15 October, Aleksandr Turchin met with Anton Alikhanov to discuss new plans for industrial cooperation and the creation of new projects, prospects for cooperation, including in microelectronics, light industry, and automobile manufacturing.
